Adventures: Orient State Park II

On our way out of Orient State Park, we made a quick stop at the Park's rustic office. I became enamoured with the flowers in front and the recycled buoys.

Adventures: Orient State Park Beach I

Sometimes you just need to escape the city during the summer heat. I recently took a trip out to Orient State Park Beach in Long Island with some girlfriends. The beach was gorgeous and was a great break from city life for the day.

Treats: People's Pops

There are no shortage of great dessert ideas in New York. While in Chelsea Market, I was excited to find that one of my favourite popsicle vendors, People's Pops, had a shop within the market. I love their creative, seasonal combinations of popsicle flavours. I highly recommend the Yellow Peach Basil - so refreshing!

Portrait: Cory

Sometimes, I make my boyfriend sit for photos. And by sometimes, I do mean always.

I tried a new skin retouching technique on this image that I love! The technique is called Frequency Separation and    the incredibly talented Julie Kuzmenko details it here on her blog.

Treats: Sea Swirl, Mystic CT

With the recent popularity of frozen yogurt, I had forgotten about the deliciousness of soft-serve ice cream. Sea Swirl in Mystic Connecticut serves up a huge variety of soft-serve flavours and toppings. I loved the old-school charm and my Irish Cream ice cream was incredible.

Chelsea Market, New York

Chelsea Market is a great spot in New York to experience the local food and drink entrepreneurs. Unlike the food fairs, Chelsea Market is open year-round and is housed in its own dedicated building. No matter what you're craving, the market offers what you're looking for. Whenever I'm walking the High Line, I like to cool off and buy a refreshment in the air conditioned market.
